Book Drive

Books Beyond Borders announces its Books Into Bricks Citywide Book Drive initiative for businesses and community organizations in Austin and surrounding areas.

The BIB Book Drive is an opportunity for clients, employees, and contributors (as well as passersby) to donate old, used, or new books and by donating, to help build new schools in Central America.

Every book donated will be assessed, cataloged, and added to the library stacks at the BBB warehouse at 618 C Tillery Street in East Austin – readied for resale online or marked for charitable donation – and the proceeds will go to build schools in Nicaragua, through BBB’s sister organization, the nonprofit Project Schoolhouse.

Austin businesses, office complexes, marketplaces, community centers, and community organizations are encouraged to participate in the Books Into Bricks Book Drive.

It’s an easy process: with all parties’ consent, Books Beyond Borders will help locate an appropriate, public, open space accessible to all, and BBB will install and maintain a handsome 5′X5′X5′ cube with a drop slot. Donated books will be picked up and weighed, and the business, organization, group, association, or individual that helps sponsor the drive gets a check based on the weight of the books collected.

This project is perfect for churches and youth groups, office buildings and corporate headquarters, associations and doctors’ offices. It’s a way we can all recycle old books and support education in one of the poorest nations in our hemisphere.

To participate, please contact Books Beyond Borders President Thomas Barker or Partner Ahmed Mohiuddin at 512.853.9565 or email BBB at info@booksbeyondborders.com.

Join the Book Drive and help turn your old books into bricks!
