Our efforts are possible only with your help. We welcome donations of current textbooks in new and gently used condition.  We are able, in special circumstances, to absorb the shipping cost of these items. For most contributions, we suggest donors send their books via USPS media mail rate, which seems to be the most cost and time efficient. We do accept most other donations if the donor is willing to pay for shipping.  Things we can use: other (non-textbook) educational books, for example historical nonfiction, etc. ; fiction, other than mass-market paperbacks, in new or very good condition; other nonfiction books in new or like new condition (current self-help, travel, etc.)

Local donations are accepted Monday through Friday, 12pm-4pm, at our Austin warehouse, located at 622 Pedernales Street.   Map 

With the exception of Spanish language books, the books we receive are sold on various marketplaces, and are not shipped directly to the communities we serve.  These communities are very rural, Spanish-speaking, and do not have use for books in English. The proceeds from our book sales are infinitely more valuable than the books themselves and go directly to pay for building materials, labor oversight costs and the cost of shipping school supplies to our partner schools in Nicaragua.  Because these books are re-sold by Books Beyond Borders, these donations are not eligible for a 501c-3 tax deduction. 

On behalf of our companion organization, Project Schoolhouse, we also gratefully receive books in the Spanish language and encourage donations to their school building projects. Project Schoolhouse is a non-profit entity and any donations made directly to the organization, either monetary or in the form of Spanish language books, are eligible for the 501c-3 tax deduction.
